lyrics

blue jay way

don’t nag into a corner
don’t show up late for a date
don’t let the fear of the unknown impede
on your great escape
just raise to the moment and greet it
whichever the variety
and then there i will be waiting
under the old maple tree

but these days it grows colder
and the fire still does burn
and the walks they seem much longer
but i’m standing on my own

the blue jay stands uncomfortably
unsure of where he should rest
the branch that he chooses isn’t all that strong
she can’t hold his weight for too long
and yet he continues to tempt her
and love her whenever he can
but sooner or later she can’t hold
and she breaks with a snap in the wind

but these days it grows colder
and the fire still does burn
and the walks they seem much longer
but i’m standing on my own
